Go for Gold
Last week saw a hive of activity within Elder Homes. Both Chamberlain and Cluny residents were set the challenge to have their steps counted so we could see how far up the virtual Scott Monument we could get, collectively!
Within the first day we had been up and down several times and by the end of the week, the residents had covered 83,960 steps, enough to get up the Scott monument 287 times! In fact they had counted enough steps to go up and half way back down MOUNT EVEREST! An amazing feat.
This initiative was set by the Care Inspectorate to prompt the benefits of excercise for all of us, but particulalry the elderly.
The scheme was directed by Elder Homes Physiotherapists and Social & Leisure department and included various excercises, including a fun `spot` quiz, counting and observing things in and around the garden - an interesting and definately worthwhile project.
