In their own words....

We are very proud to have many staff members who have worked with the company over a period of time. We would like to introduce you to two of them - Robert Murray and Audrey Connachan, both of whom have worked for Elder Homes for 30 years each! This is what they had to say about their experience.

Robert: I previously worked and lived in Ayrshire and worked in Prestwick airport in catering for a number of years before coming to Edinburgh. I  had thought about going into the caring role for a  while and decided to come to Edinburgh 30 years ago where I was offered a position as a carer in Cluny Lodge.

My role now as a team leader is to assist residents with daily care as well as assist in the training of new staff. I have completed my SVQ3 and have undergone various training courses, which enable me to administer medication. I am also the fire warden for Cluny Lodge.

Audrey: I trained as a hairdresser then went on to have a family but found it difficult to find child care. I decided to look for something completely different and applied to Cluny Lodge. I was offered a job and there the story begins…

My role is now as a team leader helping to guide new members of staff and help care for each resident with person centred care. Cluny has given me lots of opportunities to climb up the ladder with SVQ training, training as a manual handling trainer and SVQ assessor as well as training to administer medication.
