NAPPI training at Elder Homes 08.04.15
Training forms a very big part of our work here at Elder Homes. We believe that the more staff are aware of conditions and issues that may arise, the better the care that we can give.
With this in mind, Cheryl Henderson our Education and Dementia co-ordinator trained as a NAPPI trainer 3 years ago. NAPPI stands for Non-Abusive Psychological and Physical Interventions. (For more information se NAPPIuk.com) This training helps to pre-empt when residents may be distressed/upset so we can try to prevent it occurring.
The course run today included staff who have just joined us. It produced lively debate and a sense of confidence in those who participated to be able to do their work in a safer and even more resident-centred way.
