Staff training on Palliative Care
As part of our on-going training we were honoured to be joined by Dr Jo Hockley OBE to impart some of her specialist knowledge regarding palliative care.
The title of the symposium was `Palliative Care and the needs of frail older people, and their families, living/dying in care homes`. This is not an easy subject but is a very important one and was discussed openly and positively.
Jo`s background was initially in the hospice movement as well as research - it was a fantastic addition to our in-house palliative care course which uses the Macmillan teaching booklets. (Which incidentally Jo helped to write)!
We are so grateful to Jo for giving us some of her valuable time and hope to host another event in the future.
