Warhorse
We were gobsmacked by this wonderful piece of cleverly thought-out theatre. The National Theatre has done a masterful job on the story of the Warhorse. Their puppeteers portrayed the horses and various birds so artfully (noises and all) that we were completely sucked into war torn Europe during WW1. The horse even walked passed us in the audience at one point. Feeling like we were in the middle of a trenches battlefield was quite traumatic... cannon explosions and barbed wire across the stage....there was hardly a dry eye in the house.
We were delighted to finally see the telling of this story on stage. It surpassed our expectations.
The evening passed smoothly and easily. We will be looking for our next theatre night out soon...perhaps `Brigadoon`?
